About

Growing up I used to believe that manners were the enemy of intimacy. Etiquette was a wall between two people that required them think about the manner in which they spoke rather than what they said to each other. Then: for no reason whatsoever, I picked up my first book on etiquette: How to Greet The Queen: and Other Questions of Modern Etiquette (Caroline Taggart), only to be surprised at how much of the book centered around the concept "other people exist and you should act in consideration of that fact."

That book helped me to understand most of etiquette is not designed to make people uncomfortable, but to make them more comfortable by providing clarity in moments of ambiguity. when you know who extends his hand first, who takes the check, and more, things become more comfortable than less.

After many years of studying, I have decided to make this site as a means of helping people to understand Manners and etiquette.
